Winford Parish Council Regulations for allotment holders
1. All allotment tenants must be registered with the Parish Council and must pay the agreed rent annually, the year to run from April 1st to March 31st. 2. If rent has not been paid by 4 weeks after it was due, the tenant will receive a reminder in writing. If the rent has still not been paid within a further 4 weeks the Parish Council will inform the tenant in writing that the contract has been broken by default, and the plot will be relet 3. The tenant is entitled to receive twelve months notice from the Parish Council. This will normally be necessary if the plot is neglected and has become overgrown. The Parish Council will then proceed as follows : a) The tenant will receive a warning letter from the Parish Council clerk b) If after six months the condition of the plot has not improved, a second letter will be sent c) If after a further six months no remedial action has been taken, the Parish Council will inform the tenant in writing that the tenancy is terminated. This will take effect even if the rental has been paid. The Parish Council may also seek reimbursement from the tenant to return the plot to reasonable working order. 4. Allotment holders must keep their plots reasonably tidy. Items such as rusty metal, plastic, old carpets etc must not be allowed to accumulate. 5. Tenants must not trespass on plots which are not their own. 6. Only tenants, or people known to existing tenants, are allowed on this Parish Council site. 7. Any incidents of stealing or vandalism must be reported back to the Parish Council. 8. Any dog on the site must be under proper control 9. The access track and all paths must be kept clear 10. Any suggestions or complaints must be submitted to the Parish Council.. 11. Health and Safety. Allotments can be dangerous places. Children on the site must be under proper supervision. No ponds, water features or bee keeping will be allowed. 12. Allotments must not be used for the siting of any permanent children’s play equipment. 13. The Parish Council cannot be responsible for any injuries which occur on site. 14. The commercial growing of trees etc is not allowed. 15. It is forbidden to keep any livestock on an allotment, other than chickens on a very limited scale. 16. In addition to any restrictions imposed by Bristol Water in times of drought, no water sprinklers are allowed at any time, and all watering must be via hand held hoses. 17. The tenant will be required to obtain permission from the Parish Council to erect on their plot small temporary structures such as green houses and garden sheds. No fencing round individual plots will be allowed. 18. Any tools, equipment or personal belongings are left on the site strictly at the owner’s risk. 19. Tenants cannot assign or sublet their tenancy to a third party.
